Funding available for case studies

ADM-HEA subject centre invites you to submit a case study describing, reflecting upon and evaluating transitional relationships with between FE and HE and in particular  the progression from the 14 - 19 Diplomas into HE. If accepted, your case study will be published on the ADM-HEA website and you will receive a fee of £300.

The First Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in Higher Education Symposium

Organised by Sharon Beeden, Senior Lecturer at Arts University College at Bournemouth in collaboration with Dr Paul Tosey, Senior Lecturer, University of Surrey and hosted by Bournemouth University, they invite you to participate in the first international symposium relating to NLP within Higher Education (HE) contexts.

Within the increasingly challenging educational climate, the need to enhance the student experience and to meet the requirements of an ever-broadening profile of learner is an important objective within many Higher Education Institutions (HEI's).
In recognising current research and practice relating to NLP strategies being undertaken by academics within learning and teaching environments and by student support staff in co-curricular activities, the aim of the symposium is to provide a forum to share, showcase and disseminate work relating to NLP approaches within HE.
An invitation to submit proposals for this inaugural symposium is extended to academics, researchers and student support staff within the HE sector.

NUS launches Postgraduate Researcher’s Employment Survey

The National Union of Students has launched its first major piece of research for the new Postgraduate Campaign in collaboration with the University and College Union: a Postgraduate Employment Survey aimed at postgraduate and recently postdoctoral researchers who have undertaken employment in a HE institution at any time since September 2008.

The survey should take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete. All researchers who complete the survey will be given the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win £50 of Amazon vouchers. The survey can be accessed via the link below.
ALT-C 2010: 'Into something rich and strange' - making sense of the sea-change
The Association for Learning Technology Conference 2010

First call for papers and abstracts

Learning technology is part of the fabric of formal and informal learning. Meanwhile, a sea-change is taking place. The sea-change involves a structural and pervasive shift in the nature of the Internet.

The ALT-C 2010 themes will be:

  • the changing paradigms and structures for learning;
  • increasing productivity and effectiveness, whilst mitigating risks;
  • responding to and shaping the organisational landscape;
  • meeting the changing expectations and needs of learners, employers, and society;
  • the changing design skills and knowledge needed to support learning and teaching with technology.

Proposals for inclusion in the programme will be accepted between mid December 2009 and 15 February 2010.

3rd Annual Institutional Research Conference, Developing a Framework for Institutional Research: Informing Institutional Enhancement, Pracitce and Strategy
