HEFCE consultation on changes to teaching funding and student number controls to be implemented in 2012–13

This is the first stage of a two-stage consultation in which HEFCE seeking comments on proposed changes to the way they fund teaching and allocate student numbers. The changes proposed in this stage of the consultation would be implemented in academic year 2012–13. Responses should be made online by Friday 2 September 2011. New arrangements for teaching funding – 2012–13 and beyond
Information about the consultation including an impact assessment. This web page sets out the principles behind HEFCE’s proposed funding arrangements and their timetable for consultation and decision making. Also included is a sector impact report on the impact of the proposals on the HE sector in terms of regulatory burden, equality and diversity, sustainable development and privacy.


Advance notification of changes to HESES and HEIFES for 2011–12
This circular letter notifies institutions of changes that HEFCE intend to incorporate in the Higher Education Students Early Statistics (HESES) and Higher Education in Further Education: Students (HEIFES) surveys for the 2011–12 academic year. It also explains how they propose to use the new data they are collecting to inform the calculation of funding from 2012–13. The consultation on changes to the method for funding teaching has just been published, and this will have an impact on these issues. A reply to this circular letter is not required.
