ELSIN 2011 Conference

Date posted: 17/12/2010

ELSIN 2011 conference
University of Antwerp, Belgium
29 June - 1 July 2011

The major theme of the 16th Annual Conference of the Education, Learning, Styles, Individual differences Network (ELSIN) is: ‘Developing learning within and across disciplines: Evidence from research and practice’.

In recent years, scholars and researchers have devoted considerable attention to research on the development of learning within educational and business settings, as well as the ways in which this learning can be invoked. The various disciplines have much to learn from each other with regard to this topic. Contributions to the conference can be empirical, theoretical/conceptual or practice-oriented, but all should be conceptually, theoretically and methodologically sound. Special attention should be paid to the relevance and value of submissions for research on learning and individual differences in education or business. ELSIN especially welcomes contributions from practitioners, new researchers and PhD-students in the field of styles.

Complementing the ELSIN’s vast research tradition, the 2011 edition features a ‘Research meets Practice’-day. Practitioners in the fields of management, education and workplace learning are invited to submit proposals of ‘good practices’ or ‘demonstrations’. By bringing together both research and practice they hope to initiate a fruitful dialogue.

Key-note lectures will be given by:

  • Prof. Dr. Sari Lindblöm-Ylänne, Professor of Higher Education at Helsinki University, Director of the Centre for Research and Development of Higher Education at Helsinki University in Finland,
  • Prof. Dr. Maria Kozhevnikov, Professor of Radiology at the Harvard Medical School, Associate in Neuroscience at Massachusetts General Hospital
