2011 Surveys for Enhancement conference

The Higher Education Academy is convening the 2011 Surveys for Enhancement conference on Thursday 19 May at the National College for School Leadership, Nottingham. The conference will bring together research and practice in using student experience surveys to enhance learning and teaching.
Sessions will include invited speakers, parallel presentations and a Question Time-style discussion. The event will involve a broad range of people interested in using student experience data to enhance policy and practice, such as senior management with strategic learning & teaching roles, educational developers, lecturers at the chalk face and students.
Contributions are now sought for presentations and mini-workshop sessions relating to the theme of the event including (but not restricted to):

  • Using the National Student Survey to support enhancement;
  • Postgraduate Taught (PTES) and Research Experience Surveys (PRES);
  • Triangulation of national survey results with institutional surveys;
  • Looking across undergraduate and postgraduate surveys to explore institutional, subject or programme-based issues;
  • Development of institutional surveys based on the NSSE,  AUSSE or other national approaches;
  • Exploring and using qualitative data.

Please note that the session slots will each be 45 minutes in length.

  • Name
  • Role
  • Department
  • Institution
  • Title of Presentation / Workshop
  • Abstract (500 words max.)

Proposals will be reviewed against the following criteria:

  • Relevance to conference theme;
  • Applicability to other institutions within UK HE sector;
  • For discipline-specific proposals: generalisability to other subject areas;
  • Extent of engagement of the audience in the presentation / workshop.
