The Concept Model of Advising - from Theory to Practice

Following the success of last year's conference on Personal Tutoring & Academic Advising organised by the Higher Education Academy in Edinburgh and held in association with the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) in Edinburgh, a second event on an international theme is being hosted by NACADA in Pittsburgh, USA. This event will be held in conjunction with the NACADA Mid-Atlantic Region 2 conference.  

Co-hosting the event are the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. The site will be the Sheraton Station Square Hotel located on the south shore of the Monongahela River with spectacular views of the city’s skyline

  • Jane Pizzolato, a full-time faculty member in Psychology in Education at the University of Pittsburgh will speak. Jane is known for her publications and research on the theory of self-authorship. She has written numerous articles, including one entitled “Complex Partnerships: Self-authorship and Provocative Academic-Advising Practices” which was published in The Journal of the National Academic Advising Association, Volume 26, Number 1, Spring 2006.
  • Paula Hixenbaugh, Professor at Westminister University in London, will also address the group. More information will be posted as it becomes available and NACADA are very excited to be able to have her as a featured part of their programmme .
