'Putting the learning into SoTL: student experiences of learning and implications for practice'.

University of Glasgow, Senate Room, Gilbert Scott Building
28 October 2008 10:00-16:15

The Learning & Teaching Centre at the University of Glasgow would like to invite you to a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Symposium.

The symposium will focus on exploring ways in which student experiences of learning can be better understood and how these experiences can inform our teaching and learning practice. The keynote address at the symposium will explore student experiences of running an online journal entitled 'eSharp' and will be given by Anneleise Mackintosh and Simone Hutchison from the Faculty of Arts. Other speakers include Dr Gayle Pringle, Faculty of Law, Business and Social Sciences, Dr Peter Sneddon, Physics and Astronomy and Dr Jo Sharp, Geographical and Earth Sciences.

Delegates will have a choice of attending either a SoTL paper discussion group OR a workshop.

The SoTL paper discussion group will discuss the following journal article: Trigwell, K & Shale, S. (2004) Student learning and the scholarship of university teaching’. Studies in Higher Education 29 (4) 523-525.

The workshop will be an opportunity to discuss and share ideas about ways in which student experiences of learning can be gathered and understood in order to enhance practice.

If you intend to come to the SoTL paper discussion group, it would be helpful if you have read the paper prior to attending the event. For copyright reasons we cannot send this paper to you directly, but the article should be available through your university webpages.
