Conference - Fair for all: Practical Strategies for Equality and Inclusivity

The development of Equality Schemes in recent years has focused attention on the challenges of responding effectively to student diversity. In order to explore these issues further, this wide-ranging national one-day conference is organised by De Montfort University. Its aim is to exchange ideas and practices that will engage and enable all our students to achieve their potential.

The high-profile keynote speakers are Professor Mick Healey NTF who will speak on disability and learning difference, and Professor Glynis Cousin who will speak on internationalisation and cosmopolitan approaches.  There will be an extensive variety of workshops on topics including mental health; neurodiversity; international students; assistive technology and mature students.

Keynote Speakers: 
Mick Healey  is Professor of Geography and Director of the Centre for Active Learning at the University of Gloucestershire. He has published extensively in Geography but his main research area is now learning and teaching in HE. Mick has led several major government funded projects, and he is Co-Director of an ESRC project on “Enhancing the quality and outcomes of disabled students’ learning in higher education”.   He will speak on 'disability and learning difference'.
Glynis Cousin  has recently  taken up post at the University of Wolverhampton as Director of the Institute for Learning Enhancement and of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (Enabling Achievement within a Diverse Student Body). Glynis  has worked on a number of national and international higher education research and evaluation projects and is currently completing a book on higher education research methods.  She will speak on internationalisation and cosmopolitan approaches.
